The synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke) are each shaped in a loose- Sonata From (Exposition, Development, Recapitulation) using Jesus' question to his disciples "Who do you say I am?" (Matthew 16:15; Mark 8:29; Luke 9:20) as a transition point into the Development sections.

The twelve disciples each have a pitch on the 12-tone scale:
